Following a sold-out international expansion in London that drew over 400 delegates, the premier SL diaspora investment summit returns to the United States to shift gears from pledges to active portfolio development across critical economic sectors.
SILVER SPRING, Maryland — July 14, 2026 — Organizers have officially opened registration for the highly anticipated USA Edition of the 2026 Sierra Leone Diaspora Investment Conference (SLDIC), scheduled to take place on August 21, 2026, in Silver Spring, Maryland.
This upcoming edition centers around the critical theme: “From Pledges to Portfolios: Unlocking Diaspora Investment in Mining, Health, and Energy.” Designed as a high-impact, actionable gathering, the conference extends a formal invitation to small businesses, vendors, investors, and professionals who are ready to secure a stake in Sierra Leone’s rapidly expanding business landscape.
The announcement comes on the heels of the historic SLDIC London edition held in June, which completely sold out its two-day program, bringing together 400 diaspora delegates, fund managers, and leaders at the InterContinental Hotel Park Lane. The London conference featured the highest level of government participation in the event’s history. This included a keynote address by the Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, alongside cabinet ministers from the Ministries of Finance, Trade and Industry, Lands, and Tourism.

Building on this powerful wave of public-private collaboration, the USA Edition will provide a direct gateway for attendees to engage with senior policymakers to identify investment pipelines. It serves as a strategic platform to move past sentimental remittances and look into structured investment vehicles.
“The perfect conditions that we are all waiting for—the 24-hour uninterrupted electricity, the reliable running water, the flawless highway networks, the world-class schools and hospitals—are not going to happen if we don’t do the work to build right now,” said Vickie Remoe, Founder and Chair of the SLDIC, during her recent keynote speech.
“We have to build it through our imperfections, trials, and errors. You are the visionaries. You are the trailblazers. You, all of us here, are the investors that Sierra Leone has been waiting for.”
Attendees can expect dedicated panel discussions, investor spotlights, and a dynamic Vendor Showcase designed to feature small businesses and diaspora-led brands. Secure your tickets and vendor booths today to lock in your place.
